DETAILS OF CURRICULUM

Our curriculum is designed in alignment with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the curricular approach of CBSE, with a strong focus on holistic development, competency-based learning, experiential learning and the development of independent and lifelong learners. We aim to nurture every child’s curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills while developing strong values and a sense of responsibility.

FOUNDATIONAL STAGE – BALAVATIKA

At the Foundational Stage, we follow the One Learn curriculum for Balavatika, designed to provide joyful, play-based and activity-oriented learning experiences appropriate to the developmental needs of young children.

Children are encouraged to explore, observe, communicate, create and learn through meaningful experiences. Special emphasis is given to the development of language and literacy, early numeracy, physical development, socio-emotional skills, creativity and positive learning habits.

Storytelling, rhymes, music, role play, art and craft, conversation, games, hands-on activities and thematic learning are integrated into the learning process. These experiences help children develop confidence, imagination, communication skills and a love for learning.

Festivals and special occasions such as New Year, Pongal, Ugadi, Dasara, Diwali, Eid and Christmas are celebrated through age-appropriate activities, enabling children to appreciate India’s rich cultural diversity.

Parent participation is encouraged through special events and classroom activities, strengthening the partnership between the child, parents and school.

 PRIMARY STAGE – GRADES I TO V

For Grades I to V, we follow Headword Publications, with classroom practices designed in accordance with the principles of NEP 2020 and the CBSE competency-based approach.

The Primary curriculum focuses on strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy while encouraging children to learn through exploration, observation, questioning, discussion, experimentation and hands-on experiences.

Activity-based and experiential learning is integrated into different subjects through:

– Nature walks and observation activities

– Storytelling and creative writing

– Drama and role play

– Art and craft

– Music and movement

– Conversation and group discussions

– Projects and presentations

– Mathematical puzzles and games

– Experiments and demonstrations

– Collaborative and hands-on activities

Language learning focuses on developing the Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing (LSRW) skills of children. Mathematics is made meaningful through activities that develop logical thinking, reasoning and problem-solving abilities. Environmental and scientific concepts are connected with the child’s immediate surroundings and real-life experiences.

The curriculum provides opportunities for children to express themselves, work collaboratively, make connections across subjects and gradually become confident and independent learners.

 MIDDLE AND SECONDARY STAGE – GRADES VI TO X

For Grades VI to X, we follow the NCERT curriculum and prescribed NCERT textbooks, in accordance with the CBSE curriculum and the educational vision of NEP 2020.

At this stage, the curriculum aims to move learners from acquiring knowledge to understanding, applying, analysing, evaluating and creating. Classroom teaching is supported by experiential, inquiry-based, project-based and activity-based learning approaches.

Along with the core academic subjects, the school provides opportunities for students to develop their interests, talents, values and life skills through a wide range of scholastic and co-scholastic activities.

 LANGUAGE EDUCATION

Languages are taught with emphasis on developing effective Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing (LSRW) skills and strengthening communication and expression.

MATHEMATICS

The Maths Club provides opportunities for students to strengthen mathematical thinking through puzzles, logical reasoning, mental mathematics, mathematical games, problem-solving activities and innovative approaches to calculations.

The focus is not merely on obtaining answers but on developing reasoning, application, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

 SCIENCE

Science is taught through practical, experiential and inquiry-based approaches. Students are encouraged to observe, question, investigate, experiment and draw conclusions.

Laboratory activities, projects, demonstrations, seminars and awareness programmes help students connect scientific concepts with real-life situations.

 The Eco Club promotes environmental awareness through activities such as plantation drives, health and hygiene programmes, conservation initiatives and seminars. Students are encouraged to become responsible and environmentally conscious citizens.

 SOCIAL SCIENCE

Social Science learning goes beyond the textbook through activities that help students understand society, democracy, citizenship, history, geography and current affairs.

Mock assemblies, quizzes, discussions, projects, presentations and current-affairs activities encourage students to develop awareness, critical thinking, communication skills and responsible citizenship.

 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Information Technology is offered as an additional subject for students of Grades IX and X, providing opportunities to develop digital literacy and relevant technological skills required for the changing world.

 ART-INTEGRATED LEARNING

Art-Integrated Learning (AIL) is an important part of the curriculum in accordance with CBSE guidelines. Students are encouraged to integrate art with academic subjects through drawing, painting, craft, creative presentations, visual representation and other artistic forms.

Art enables students to express ideas creatively while making academic learning more engaging and meaningful.

 *COMPETITIONS AND ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES *

Competitions and enrichment activities are conducted at the classroom, school and inter-house levels. These activities provide opportunities for students to discover their talents, develop healthy competitive spirit, improve communication and build confidence.

 PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORTS

We believe that physical fitness is an integral part of holistic education. Students are encouraged to participate in sports, physical education and fitness activities.

Sports provide opportunities to develop discipline, teamwork, leadership, perseverance, sportsmanship and self-confidence.

VALUE EDUCATION AND LIFE SKILLS

Education at our school goes beyond academic achievement. Through the E4U and Value Education Programmes, collaborative activities, service-oriented initiatives and various school programmes, students are encouraged to develop empathy, respect, responsibility, integrity, self-discipline, leadership qualities and a spirit of cooperation.

These programmes help students understand the importance of values in everyday life and guide them to make responsible choices, respect others and contribute positively to society.

ASSESSMENT AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Assessment is an integral part of the learning process. In keeping with the competency-based approach, students are given opportunities to demonstrate their understanding through projects, activities, presentations, practical work, classroom participation, application-based tasks and written assessments.

Assessment focuses on understanding and application of concepts rather than rote memorisation. Regular feedback helps teachers identify individual learning needs and provide appropriate support and enrichment.

 OUR CURRICULUM VISION

Our curriculum provides a strong link between scholastic and co-scholastic learning. Through a balanced combination of academics, experiential learning, arts, sports, technology, values and life skills, we strive to develop confident and independent learners.
